France utterly condemns the attack carried out by the armed group 3R in the Paoua region, in northwestern Central African Republic (CAR), which caused numerous civilian deaths.
France offers its condolences to the victims’ families and calls for the perpetrators to be swiftly brought to justice.
This attack is a major violation of the peace agreement signed by the Central African government and 14 armed groups on February 6, with the support of the African Union, the UN, and the countries of the region. This attack shows the urgent need for disarming and demobilizing armed groups, which must end all forms of violence and destabilizing activities in Bangui and in the rest of the country, lay down their weapons, and engage in the peace process immediately and unconditionally. France reiterates its call for all the parties to implement last February’s agreement, which offers real prospects for ending the crisis in the CAR
