André Vallini, Minister of State for Development and Francophonie, took part in the donors’ conference in support of the Central African Republic today in Brussels.
André Vallini reaffirmed France’s support for the people of the Central African Republic and for the efforts to promote the country’s recovery led by President Touadéra.
Beyond Operation Sangaris, France is committed to supporting the Central African Republic, notably by providing more than €76 million in civilian aid since January 2014 for emergency situations, election support, and support for resolving the crisis and the country’s development.
André Vallini announced an increase in this assistance over the next three years, bringing it to a total of €85 million over the period 2017 to 2019. This package will include €15 million for the “Bêkou” (which means “hope” in Sango) multi-donor trust fund for emergency situations and development; this is the first European fund aimed at swiftly and effectively addressing needs.
