Central African Republic – Extension of the mandate of MINUSCA (April 28, 2015)

France welcomes the unanimous adoption by the UN Security Council of resolution 2217 renewing the mandate of MINUSCA for one year.

This resolution notably reaffirms the key role of this mission to protect civilians and support the political process led by the transitional authorities, which is dependent upon the success of the Bangui Forum and the speeding up of preparations for the elections.

The text also underscores the need for continued international support for the Central African Republic, including for election funding.
