Central African Republic – Clashes between armed groups (November 21 to 22, 2016)

Share

France is concerned by the clashes between armed groups on November 21 and 22 in Bria which resulted in numerous casualties.

We call on all armed groups to put an end to all forms of violence and to join, without delay, the disarmament, demobilization, reintegration and repatriation program launched by the authorities of the Central African Republic. France supports the efforts of MINUSCA and encourages it to press ahead with implementing its mandate to protect the civilian populations.

France reaffirms its full support for the action taken by President Touadéra. The donors’ conference in Brussels on November 17 provided an opportunity for all of CAR’s partners to demonstrate their determination to support the country on the path to peace and economic and social recovery. France hopes that the summit of the heads of state of the Economic Community of Central African States (ECCAS), scheduled to take place on November 30 in Libreville, will strengthen this momentum and demonstrate the support of the countries of the region for President Touadéra and the authorities of the Central African Republic.
