Central African Republic – Attack on MINUSCA (18 May 2018)

France condemns the attack on MINUSCA on May 18 near Alindao, which left one Mauritanian peacekeeper dead and eight injured.

We offer our condolences to the victim’s family and to the Mauritanian authorities.

France reiterates its full support for the actions conducted by MINUSCA, which is paying a heavy toll to accomplish its mission.

It is imperative for all armed groups in Bangui and in the rest of the country to end all forms of violence and destabilizing activities, to lay down their arms, and to commit to the peace process without delay and without preconditions.

France calls for the swift implementation of the joint roadmap for peace and reconciliation adopted on July 17, 2017, in Libreville, to effectively disarm armed groups. It reaffirms its support for the work carried out in this regard by the Central African authorities, the African Union, and the countries and organizations of the region, and encourages them to continue their efforts.
