Burkina Faso – Death of two Spanish journalists and an Irish citizen in a terrorist attack (28 April 2021)

France condemns in the strongest possible terms the terrorist attack of April 26 in eastern Burkina Faso, which killed two Spanish journalists and an Irish citizen and wounded six Burkinabé citizens.

France offers its condolences to the loved ones of those killed and to the Spanish and Irish authorities, to whom it offers its absolute solidarity. It wishes the Burkinabé victims a speedy recovery and assures them of its full support. Those responsible for these attacks must be identified and held accountable.

The freedom of the press and the safety of journalists and all those who contribute to the public debate are fundamental and must be protected worldwide.

France stands resolutely with Burkina Faso to fight the scourge of terrorism.
