Belarus (19 May 2021)

France is concerned by the searches carried out on May 18 at the offices of a Belarusian independent information site, Tut.by, in Minsk, and by the arrest of several of its employees. France demands their immediate release. Belarus must act in compliance with its international commitments.

France reaffirms its unwavering, resolute commitment to the freedom of the press, the freedom of expression and the protection of journalists and all those whose efforts contribute to the free flow of information and the public debate worldwide. Free, independent, pluralistic media outlets are vital to the proper functioning of our societies.
