Jean-Baptiste Lemoyne, Minister of State for Tourism, French Nationals Abroad and Francophonie, attached to the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, spoke with Henry Puna, Secretary General of the Pacific Islands Forum, on November 12.

The Minister and the Secretary General addressed the region’s main challenges, which are at the center of France’s Indo-Pacific strategy. They confirmed our shared priority of combating climate change, and areas of action and cooperation, in line with the France-Oceania Summit on July 19. They also reviewed the latest political developments in the region.

Since its establishment in 1971, the Pacific Island Forum has been the region’s primary political organization. It numbers 18 full-fledged member states including New Caledonia and French Polynesia; Wallis and Futuna is an associate member. France is part of the Post-Forum Dialogue bringing together non-member partner countries.
