Asia – Visit by Franck Riester to Singapore, Indonesia and South Korea (12-20 December 2020)

Franck Riester, Minister Delegate for Foreign Trade and Economic Attractiveness, attached to the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, will visit Singapore, Indonesia and South Korea from December 12-20.

During this tour to one of the most dynamic and innovative regions of the world, the minister delegate will underscore France’s determination to strengthen ties with these three strategic partners in the Indo-Pacific region and will seek to strengthen trade with these countries and promote cross investment with France. This visit will involve meetings with representatives of the three countries, as well as with representatives of the French community, notably the business community. The minister delegate will also meet with the secretary general of ASEAN, with which France would like to strengthen its ties, in accordance with France’s strategy for the Indo-Pacific region.

Franck Riester will discuss with his interlocutors – ministers, industrial groups, the business community and the French community – potential synergies for developing cooperation in future-oriented sectors such as the digital economy, the hydrogen sector, new generation batteries, aerospace, urban transport, biotechnology and health research. Support lent to locally established French firms and the promotion of France’s attractiveness will be central to the discussions.

The minister delegate will also discuss the challenges of global warming and the management of the COVID-19 pandemic in order to promote a common response to these challenges.
