Situation in Nagorno-Karabakh – Q&A from the press briefing (28 Sept. 2020)
Q. As Co-Chair of the Minsk Group, what is France doing to initiate a dialogue between Azerbaijan and Armenia?
A. As President Macron emphasized yesterday during his telephone conversations with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, the absolute priority is a halt to hostilities in Nagorno-Karabakh and the necessary restoration of a process of dialogue.
In its capacity as Co-Chair of the Minsk Group, France, with its Russian and American partners, is in constant contact with the Parties. It is doing everything in its power to restore this dialogue and restart a political process.
France reiterates its commitment to reaching a negotiated, lasting settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, with due regard for international law.
