Armenia – Azerbaijan (09.13.22)

Share

France expresses its very deep concern following the shelling of several Armenian towns and reports of strikes against civilian targets.

President Macron spoke during the night with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and remains available to speak with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev. He called for strict compliance with the ceasefire and respect for Armenia’s territorial integrity.

France will promptly bring this matter before the UN Security Council, whose presidency we currently hold. The Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs will speak with all the stakeholders in this regard. France remains at all the parties’ disposal to ensure that all issues relating to and arising from this conflict are resolved exclusively through negotiations, and we will continue to work actively to that end in all appropriate forums.
