Argentina - Q&A - Excerpts from the daily press briefing (14.11.17)

Q – How are French authorities responding to the arrest of the Air France crew in Argentina?

A – On October 30, the crew of the Air France Paris-Buenos Aires flight, along with a French passenger, was detained by the police upon arriving at the airport. Crew members were held by the Argentinian police for seven hours that day, and the next day spent nearly 11 hours in court. No charges were filed against them and they were able to return to France after Air France had to cancel its Buenos Aires-Paris flight on November 1.

The Consulate-general of France in Buenos Aires immediately contacted local authorities to demand that they be allowed to exercise their mission of consular protection.

France deplores this incident, which must be thoroughly investigated. It demands explanations from the Argentine authorities on the conditions in which the crew was held.
