Q: Have Algerians translated the aspirations of the Hirak movement into a “political vision with institutions capable of achieving it” in the constitutional referendum, in accordance with the wishes expressed by Minister of Foreign Affairs Jean-Yves Le Drian in Algiers on October 15?

A: It is not up to us to comment on the results of this referendum.

The Algerian authorities expressed their determination to undertake reforms in response to the aspirations expressed with dignity and a sense of civic responsibility by the Algerian population. We are committed to ensuring the success of these reforms, with due respect for Algeria’s sovereignty. It is up to the Algerian people alone to determine the applicable terms and to evaluate the results.
