Albania – Visit by Harlem Désir, Minister of State for European affairs (March 30, 2016)

Minister of State for European Affairs Harlem Désir visites Tirana on March 30-31 for a meeting of the foreign ministers of the Western Balkan countries ahead of the conference to be held in Paris on July 4 at the behest of President Hollande.

The issues discussed at this meeting include major regional infrastructure projects and initiatives for Balkan youth. He also met with Johannes Hahn, European commissioner for neighborhood policy and enlargement negotiations.

During his visit, Mr. Désir has been welcomed by Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama. Talks were also scheduled with Foreign Minister Ditmir Bushati and other members of the Albanian government. These meetings dealt with strengthening our bilateral relationship and cultural and economic exchanges. Other topics discussed include the rapprochement process between Albania and the EU and the implementation of priority reforms.
