Jean-Baptiste Lemoyne, Minister of State for Tourism, French Nationals Abroad and Francophonie, attached to the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, will take part in the 35th Council of Ministers of the Indian Ocean Commission (IOC) on May 20.

On this occasion, France will take over the presidency of the IOC for one year, succeeding Comoros.

France would like to pay tribute to the achievements of the Comoros presidency which effectively mobilized the organization to respond to the challenges arising from the pandemic, notably by launching a regional plan to respond to the pandemic. France played a full role in this plan through the French Development Agency, with a contribution of €4 million.

During this meeting, the minister of state will present the goals of the French presidency of the IOC, notably with respect to the blue economy, maritime security, academic mobility, entrepreneurship and disaster risk response. The organization has a rotating presidency.
