Afghanistan – France condemns the public execution carried out by the Taliban (7 December 2022)

France condemns in the strongest possible terms today’s public execution by the Taliban in Afghanistan. This horrific action comes in addition to the many other violations of fundamental rights and freedoms committed by the Taliban against Afghan men and women since they took power by force in August 2021.

France reiterates its unwavering opposition to the death penalty everywhere and in all circumstances. We remain resolutely committed to the abolition of this unjust, inhumane punishment.
