Afghanistan – Evacuation operation (3 December 2021)

With Qatar’s help, France has organized an exceptional evacuation operation between Kabul and Doha.

A plane chartered by the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs evacuated 258 Afghan women and men especially under threat because of their commitments, particularly journalists, or their links with France, including former locally-recruited civilian staff of our armed forces. The Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs will organize their transfer to France at the end of next week.

Eleven French and some 60 Dutch people and their dependants were also evacuated on the flight.

Since 10 September, 110 French people and their dependants and 396 Afghan women and men in need of protection have been evacuated on 10 separate flights organized by Qatar.

France sincerely thanks the Qatari authorities for their decisive help in planning and carrying out these complex operations.

All the State services remain fully mobilized to continue these evacuation operations.
