Laurent Fabius wanted to revitalize the traditional Ambassadors’ Conference by opening it up more to the public, businesses and the media this year.

In addition to the internal work sessions, “Ambassadors’ Week,” which is due to start on Monday, August 24, will include several innovative events:

  • Monday, August 24: meeting between the ambassadors and the public (“Je rencontre un ambassadeur”), for which 2,000 people have registered;
  • Tuesday, August 25: first “speed-dating” event ever held in France between ambassadors and entrepreneurs (#1Ambassadeur1Entrepreneur) to be attended by almost 500 companies and with more than 1,700 meetings planned;
  • Wednesday August 26: a one-day event dedicated to preparing for the 2015 Paris Climate Conference to be attended by Ban Ki-moon, UN Secretary-General; the event will include a joint conference with Laurent Fabius.

Laurent Fabius will bring the week’s events to a close on August 27 by talking about the challenges facing the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Development in the 21st century and by announcing new guidelines for its operation and actions.

Anyone can follow and participate in the week’s events on the France Diplomatie website or through the ministry’s social networks using the hashtag #SemaineAmbass.
