The Mapping Unit is in charge of establishing and supervising all the Crisis Centre’s geographic information. Two types of thematic maps are produced:
 Maps on the humanitarian situation. These concern, for example, maps indicating NGOs on a “country” scale.
 Maps for operational planning. These concern, in particular, maps illustrating security plans (featuring the assembly points and main sites). Maps posted online on the Ministry website concerning travel advice.

Mapping relies on a vast mapping network (UN agencies, mapping department of the French Ministry of Defence, etc.).
