The Crisis Centre has a medical component in charge of Inter-Ministerial coordination of medical support missions abroad to deal with the health aspect of crises.
The Crisis Centre doctor participates in advice planning missions and in emergency operations in collaboration with experts from different ministries.
This medical expertise aims to:
Ensure international health monitoring in collaboration with international organisations and the French or foreign ministries concerned.
Provide travel information on the Ministry website. Detailed health alerts feature in this information when the local situation calls for them.
Plan preventive measures to limit the effects of certain epidemics.
Implement swiftly targeted health actions that are adapted to the needs of the poorest populations in collaboration with international agencies and NGOs.
Manage medical and psychological support missions for afflicted French nationals or for their families in France: victims of attacks or acts of piracy, hostage-taking or disturbing disappearances, assistance to repatriate war-torn populations.
