France's Action to Promote Innovation
Innovation, a twenty-first century challenge
Technological innovation underpins a country’s competitiveness. Growth and economic performance depend directly on a country’s capacity to manage and use new knowledge and to meet the technological and social challenges of the twenty-first century. Back in the year 2000, the European Union adopted the Lisbon Strategy, which placed innovation at the heart of Europe’s future.
France wants to affirm its leading role in research
and innovation and has undertaken proactive policies
to achieve this aim.
The Ministry of Foreig n and European Affairs and the
scientific departments in its embassies facilitate
exchanges and initiate international partnerships
between researchers and entrepreneurs, working
in collaboration with all of the French players who
are committed to innovation. These players include
the Ministry of Higher Education and Research, the
Ministry of the Economy, Industry and Employment,
agencies, local governments, support
structures and non-profit networks.
