France’s Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs has recently launched a new Twitter account in English. The account, @francediplo_EN, seeks to allow greater access to English-speaking internet users and to maximize the Ministry’s communications impact on social media platforms worldwide.

The creation of the new account follows a precedent set by several of the Foreign Ministry’s Twitter accounts managed through institutions such as embassies and consulates.

The French Embassy in the U.S. also maintains a Twitter account, from which followers can receive news, official statements and other diplomatic messages in English. Follow @franceintheus for the French Foreign Ministry’s latest information geared to American audiences.
