European Heritage Days at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (September 15 to 16, 2012)
Hidden heritage, secrets of history, a look at what goes on behind the scenes – the Ministry will host a unique program of events including activities, exhibitions, and role play activities that will invite the public to discover places that are normally off-limits and a heritage that is often overlooked.
Visitors will be invited to venture into the world of secret diplomacy through a historical exhibition and a presentation of old machines used to encrypt messages. They will also be able to see numerous reconstructions (international meetings, official dinners) as well as the work of art restorers who will demonstrate their expertise (gilding, bookbinding, restoration of antique furniture).
There will be music events (Republican Guard, “Diplo Voce” choir) in the gardens and rooms of the ministry, as well as various exhibitions and fun activities.
The “Au large de la France” exhibition on the gates of the Quai d’Orsay includes at least 300 photographs illustrating diplomacy in the field and French people abroad.
