Presentation

The role of inter-Ministerial coordination entrusted to the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs was reiterated by the decree of 16 March 2008, which states that the Crisis Centre shall coordinate the action of ministries when it comes to the security of French nationals abroad as well as the State’s contribution to emergency humanitarian aid operations determined by the Government.

To carry out its missions, the Crisis Centre relies on a network of embassies and consulates abroad and on a vast network of partners: the government network that links up certain departments working for the Prime Minister (Secretariat-General for National Defence, Inter-Ministerial Delegate for the Fight Against Avian Influenza, etc.) and other central administrations, the network of operational centres, which associates different centres specialised in a precise area:
- Joint Operations Planning and Command & Control Centre at the Ministry for Defence,
- Operational Centre for Inter-Ministerial Crisis Management at the Ministry of the Interior,
- Health Emergency Department with in the Ministry for Health.
