Sudan – Attack against the United Nations-African Union Mission in Darfur (UNAMID) (October 4, 2012)

France strongly condemns the attack against a UNAMID patrol on October 2 which resulted in the death of 4 Nigerian soldiers and injured 8 others in Darfur.

We extend our condolences to the Nigerian authorities and to the families of the victims.

France calls on the Sudanese government to swiftly investigate this attack against a peacekeeping operation - which could constitute a war crime - and to bring those responsible to justice.

We reaffirm our full support for UNAMID’s action and for the states which contribute, through their participation, to the consolidation of peace in Darfur.
