Fight against HIV/AIDS, malaria and tuberculosis
Fight against HIV/AIDS, malaria and tuberculosis
In 2000, the international community became aware of the seriousness of the AIDS pandemic and the significance of its social and economic cost. In addition, two other old pathologies (tuberculosis and malaria) are increasingly associated with HIV/AIDS, and are particularly serious.
The need to provide treatment and an international framework for the fight against these three diseases, responsible for the majority of premature mortality in developing countries, was fulfilled in Millennium Development Goal no. 6: “fighting HIV/AIDS, malaria and tuberculosis”.
