In follow-up to the Paris conference on peacekeeping in a French-speaking environment on October 26 and 27, 2016, France is hosting, from February 6 to 17, a UN “Training of Trainers” session to benefit a very large number of partners in the French-speaking world.
The UN regularly organizes “Training of Trainers” sessions for training officers from the countries that contribute troops to peacekeeping operations. These training sessions ensure that contingents from diverse backgrounds receive consistent training, helping to promote these countries’ engagement in the operations.
Over a period of two weeks, around 30 military and police trainees from African and Asian countries will be trained on staff procedures in peacekeeping operations, focusing on operational and ethical matters as well as professional standards. Special emphasis will be placed on respect for international humanitarian law and rules of conduct in operations.
This session has been jointly organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Development, the Ministry of Defense and the International Organization of La Francophonie.
