United Nations – International Day of Zero Tolerance for Female Genital Mutilation (February 6, 2017)

For the International Day of Zero Tolerance for Female Genital Mutilation on February 6, France calls on the international community to step up its efforts to end these barbarous practices and the violation of the rights of women and girls.

Even today, more than 200 million women in 30 countries have been mutilated, and it is estimated that 3 million girls aged 15 and under are subjected to this practice each year.

France is committed to defending the rights of women and girls worldwide.
