Tourism – Meeting of the Tourism Promotion Council devoted to French destinations (Paris, November 12, 2014)

Laurent Fabius, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Development, yesterday chaired a session of the Tourism Promotion Council devoted to the consideration of proposals aimed at facilitating access to French destinations.

The rapporteurs notably proposed bolstering efforts to promote around 20 French products and destinations that are all globally recognized “brands.” Digital tools, which are increasingly being used by industry professionals as well as by tourists all over the world, should be mobilized to that effect.

They also recommend making French tourist destinations more accessible. The lack of international air services to and from regional airports was identified as an obstacle to their development.

The Tourism Promotion Council’s next four projects will focus on the impact of digital technology, the hotel industry and business tourism, hospitality and communication and training. A final report on all of this work will be delivered at the end of the first quarter of 2015.
