Tourism – Germany - Matthias Fekl’s trip to Berlin (March 9, 2016)

Matthias Fekl, Minister of State for Foreign Trade, the Promotion of Tourism, and French Nationals Abroad, traveled to Berlin to inaugurate the France pavilion set up by [French tourism agency] Atout France at the International Tourism Bourse, one of the world’s largest international trade shows showcasing tourism.

Mr. Fekl was joined by Berlin Mayor Michael Müller, Jean-François Martins, Deputy Mayor of Paris for Tourism, and Jean-Paul Huchon, tasked by the Prime Minister with promoting tourism, as he emphasizes the qualities that make Paris an exceptional tourist destination.

He discussed French-German tourism priorities with Iris Gleicke, Parliamentary State Secretary at the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy, who is notably in charge of tourism.

During his trip, Mr. Fekl also discussed major trade policy challenges – particularly the transatlantic partnership and our bilateral economic ties – with Matthias Machnig, State Secretary at the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy.

With Jean-Marc Todeschini, Minister of State for Veterans and Remembrance, Mr. Fekl also inaugurated the exhibit “Verdun – a Century of Peace, 1916-2016,” at the Institut français.
