Deputy Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court sworn in (March 11, 2013)
France welcomes the swearing-in on March 8, 2013, of James Stewart as Deputy Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court.
James Stewart, an eminent jurist, gained extensive experience during his previous roles, notably as Senior Trial Attorney at the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda, head of the Prosecution Division at the Office of the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia and Senior Appeals Counsel then head of the Appeals and Legal Advisory Division at the Office of the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda.
France, which is firmly committed to combating impunity, attaches the utmost importance to the effective functioning of the International Criminal Court as well as to the execution of the Court’s numerous requests for cooperation. It wishes Mr. Stewart every success in his new capacity and assures him of its full support.
