Human rights – Opening of “Labcitoyen 2014” by Laurent Fabius (July 8, 2014)
Laurent Fabius, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Development, opened the third edition of “Labcitoyen” on July 8 at the Maison des cultures du mondes (World Cultures Institute). Approximately 100 young francophones from the five continents who are committed to human rights were invited to participate in this forum which was organized in Paris by the Institut français.
Laurent Fabius reaffirmed the key role that young people can play in defending human rights and in particular in the debates on the abolition of the death penalty. On this occasion, he reaffirmed our commitment to the universal abolition of the death penalty.
As in previous years, the “Labcitoyen” forum allowed participants to address the diversity of human rights struggles through conferences, debates, visits and meetings with associations and personalities involved in the defense and promotion of human rights.
