Professor Benoît Vallet elected to represent France on the Executive Board of the World Health Organization (WHO) (June 3, 2015)

France has a seat on the Executive Board of the World Health Organization (WHO) from May 2015 to May 2018. Professor Benoît Vallet, Director-General for Health at the French Ministry of Social Affairs, Health and Women’s Rights, was elected on 27 May to represent France on the Executive Board, the main governing body of the WHO. France’s three priorities for its three-year mandate are to:

  • support WHO reform to ensure its key role in global health governance;
  • strengthen international public health security, particularly by implementing International Health Regulations;
  • move towards universal health coverage by strengthening health systems and recognizing the determinants of health.
