Health – Meetings held by Jean-Marc Ayrault and Jean-Marie Le Guen with Mark Dybul, Executive Director of the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria (February 15, 2017)

Jean-Marc Ayrault, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Development, received Mark Dybul, Executive Director of the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria, on February 15; Mark Dybul also met with Jean-Marie Le Guen, Minister of State for Development and Francophonie.

This visit provided an opportunity to reaffirm France’s strong commitment to the work of the Global Fund, to which it has been the second largest contributor since its creation. This financial commitment was renewed in September 2016, with contributions amounting to more than €1 billion over the next three years.

This contribution is in line with France’s priorities with respect to global health, the strengthening of health systems, the defense of human rights and the taking into consideration of the most vulnerable populations, youth and women in health programs.

Lastly, these meetings provided an opportunity to discuss the results achieved by the Global Fund during Mark Dybul’s term of office; he will be stepping down in the near future. The Global Fund has made it possible to provide antiretroviral treatment to more than 10 million people since its creation.
