European Union presidency - Passage of the torch from Luxembourg to the Netherlands (January 1, 2016)
France applauds the results it achieved, particularly the development of a comprehensive response to migratory flows, the political agreement on the establishment of a European PNR system, and its central role in the adoption of the Paris climate agreement. The commitment of Luxembourg’s presidency was also decisive in the Better Law-Making agreement promoting a simpler, more transparent Union that can better meet the needs and expectations of our citizens.
France offers the Netherlands its best wishes for the success of its six-month presidency. It assures that country of its full confidence and support in moving forward on our common priorities: international migrations and security; financial stability and the solidity of the euro area; the promotion of an innovative, job-creating Europe; and the implementation, on the European level, of the Paris climate agreement.
