European Court of Human Rights – Election of Judge Guido Raimondi as president (September 21, 2015)

France welcomes the election on September 21 of Guido Raimondi, an Italian judge, as the new president of the European Court of Human Rights.

This senior judge, who speaks fluent French, has been vice president of the European Court of Human Rights since 2012; he brings his legal expertise as well as solid experience in European and multilateral human rights forums to the court.

France reaffirms its attachment to the European Court of Human Rights, guarantor of the principles of the European Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms.
