Emmanuel Macron and Axelle Lemaire to attend the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas to promote France’s digital economy (6-8 January 2015)

Emmanuel Macron and Axelle Lemaire attended in Paris the past Thursday a meeting organised by the French delegation that will be present at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, a major date in the consumer electronics industry’s calendar.

The “French Tech” contingent, comprising 120 companies including 66 startups (nearly one in four of the startups will exhibit at Eureka Park, the CES’ flagship destination), will be out in force. The 73% increase on last year’s attendance is symbolic of the remarkable vibrancy enjoyed by France’s breakthrough technology startups in the last few years.

According to Emmanuel Macron, France’s Minister for the Economy, Industry and Digital Affairs, “Innovations by startups will underpin the French economy’s sustainable recovery. It is our entrepreneurs who will create jobs and build the technologies that everyone will be using tomorrow. France has some unassailable advantages: all of this entrepreneurial talent is what makes up the French Tech. It’s my job to do everything I can to ensure that they succeed on the global stage. France is an outward looking country, it would like everybody, upcoming entrepreneurs and investors from all over the world alike, to acknowledge where its strengths lie: this is the message I will pass on in Las Vegas alongside France’s entrepreneurs”.

Axelle Lemaire believes that “France’s digital players are ready for the international stage. The “French Tech Hub” labels awarded recently show to what extent our regions are committed to our digital transformation. They also show that France can be at the forefront in helping new business leaders emerge on breakthrough markets, such as the connected objects and Big Data segments. The government will support this growth momentum to give it greater impetus, offering easier access to funding and to public procurement contracts for startups”. She finished by stating “We will be in Las Vegas supporting our entrepreneurs”.

Ministers Macron and Lemaire will attend the CES in Las Vegas on 6-8 January 2015 to raise the profile of France’s growing entrepreneurial movement, support the French Tech delegation, and send out the message that we are internationally-minded: French companies are key global market players, and France will promote its strengths to attract new talent and capital, both of which are essential to speeding up our economy’s transformation.
