Economic diplomacy – Meeting between Jean-Yves Le Drian and Alain Bentéjac, Chairman of the National Committee of Foreign Trade Advisers (1 August 2017)

Jean-Yves Le Drian, Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, will meet with Alain Bentéjac, Chairman of the National Committee of Foreign Trade Advisers of France (CNCCEF).

He will thank the National Committee of Foreign Trade Advisers of France for its remarkable contribution to Business France’s governance, as well as its support for the reforms initiated by the government to modernize the public support mechanism for the export sector.

As Jean-Yves Le Drian underscored in his interview to the daily newspaper Les Echos on July 20, in order to promote an export culture and support French export firms, of which there are still too few, especially compared to some of our European competitors (125,000 compared to twice as many in Italy and three times as many in Germany), we need “simplicity” in order to increase effectiveness.

In the minister’s view, this means simplifying export support mechanisms both in France, where firms should be able to go to a one-stop shop in regional areas, and abroad, where embassies should coordinate the work of export operators. Jean-Yves Le Drian would also like to strengthen the seven priority export families (health, agri-food, the tourism sector, cultural and creative industries, sustainable cities, emerging technologies and renewable energy) and provide better support to firms that are new to the export market.
