Laurent Fabius, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Development, visited Paris-Charles de Gaulle Airport on April 28 at 5:50 am. He will be accompanied by Mr. Augustin de Romanet, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Aéroports de Paris, and Mr. Frédéric Gagey, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Air France.
This visit coincided with the arrival of the first daily intercontinental flights. Mr. Laurent Fabius discussed with his interlocutors the issues relating to the attractiveness of France as a tourist destination, and notably the quality of tourist reception facilities.
After an initial series of discussions on April 22 with the professional organizations and associations involved in the tourism sector, this visit made possible to identify new initiatives that could contribute to the development of this sector which is crucial to France’s economic activity. Indeed, it provides around 2 million direct and indirect jobs that cannot be relocated and accounts for more than 7% of the country’s GDP, with considerable scope to increase these figures.
