Agriculture and agrifood together form the leading sector of the French economy. As a crucial driver of growth and employment, support for exports in this sector involves, more broadly :
- influencing international negotiations
- removing obstacles to trade
- facilitating export certification procedures and organizing support for businesses more effectively.
The “better food” initiative (in french) aims to provide solutions to promote a diversified French agrifood offer going beyond the image of the art of living and luxury with which it can be traditionally associated. Events like Goût de / Good France, whose 2016 edition focuses on the French regions and know-how, and the launch of the wine tourism portal are an opportunity to showcase the tourist diversity of France’s local produce. More broadly, promoting best practices, uniting public and private stakeholders and supporting businesses on the ground helps to structure the offer for foreign customers: this involves, for example, developing at the instigation of the coordinator an in-depth dialogue with inter-branch organizations to ensure a coordinated official presence at major fairs, commercial operations with large-scale distributors, the participation of French businesses in cultural events, and so on.
During the International Agricultural Show, the agricultural sector stakeholders present their production and expertise, to spotlight the diversity and excellence of French agricultural sectors including livestock farming, gastronomic products and the plant and vegetable sector. The Concours Général Agricole – CGA (General Agricultural Competition) whose finals will be held at the SIA and may, in some cases,be followed live (in french) will, in parallel, award prizes to the top 34 French regional products.
