UNESCO – Inscription of Le Corbusier’s work on the World Heritage List - Reminder of the statement issued by the spokesperson (July 17, 2016)

I welcome the inscription of Le Corbusier’s work on UNESCO’s World Heritage List.

The nomination of the architectural work of Le Corbusier, submitted under the category of cultural property, is the result of exemplary international cooperation between seven states (Germany, Argentina, Belgium, France, India, Japan and Switzerland).

The nomination relates to 17 buildings on three continents, including the Curutchet House in La Plata, Argentina, the National Museum of Western Art in Japan, Chandigarh in India, and the Cité Radieuse in Marseille and the suburbs of Nantes.

The inscription of Le Corbusier’s work on UNESCO’s World Heritage List by the World Heritage Committee, which met in Istanbul, confirms its universal value and will benefit its preservation and conservation all over the world.
