International Alliance for the Protection of Heritage in Conflict Areas – France’s contribution (20 September 2017)

Following the international conference in Abu Dhabi, held on the initiative of President Macron and the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi in 2016, and as it pledged to do so at the donors’ conference on March 20 at the Louvre, France has just made its first contribution to the International Alliance for the Protection of Heritage in Conflict Areas.

This payment confirms France’s commitment to protecting endangered cultural heritage in conflict areas and to combating the illegal trafficking of cultural property, a financing tool used by terrorist networks.

The funding of the International Alliance for the Protection of Heritage in Conflict Areas has been made a priority so that concrete projects can be undertaken by the end of the year.
