Oceans - Annick Girardin’s participation in the 11th Maritime Economy Conference (Marseille, 4 November, 2015)

Annick Girardin, Minister of State for Development and Francophonie, attended, on November 4 in Marseille, the 11th Maritime Economy Conference, an annual meeting of decision-makers from the maritime sector.

She took part in a round table devoted to “Blue growth: two hemispheres, the same hope.” Annick Girardin discussed the following issues with Jean d’Amour, Quebec Minister for Transport and the Implementation of the Maritime Strategy, and Teva Rohfritsch, French Polynesian Minister for Economic Redevelopment and the Blue Economy: actions to support sustainable maritime economic development, the preservation of small island states in the face of climate disruption and the new ocean-related diplomatic challenges.

Blue growth has a key role to play in the fight against climate disruption and adaptation efforts by countries of the South. An entire day will be devoted to the topic of oceans at the Paris Climate Conference.
