Canal France international backs UNESCO’s actions to support media (March 19, 2012)
Canal France international (CFI), a subsidiary of the France Télévisions group and the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs’ agency responsible for media development assistance, is mobilizing extraordinary funding of €300,000 to support 5 flagship UNESCO training projects in the media field. The five countries that will benefit from this training are Burma, the Palestinian Territories, Côte d’Ivoire, Libya and Liberia.
CFI, in agreement with the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs, will mobilize this extraordinary funding of €300,000 in order to ensure that UNESCO’s actions to support the democratization of the media can continue in 2012 in spite of the financial difficulties that this organization is currently experiencing.
French experts will be periodically involved in certain missions and will provide their expertise to the 5 countries where the actions to support democratic media are especially critical.
