France will support Germany’s bid to host the secretariat of the Green Climate Fund in Bonn, where the secretariat of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change is already located. This bid will be examined at the institution’s board meeting scheduled to take place from October 18 to 20 in Korea.

The Green Climate Fund will play a key role in the new financial architecture created to combat the effects of climate change.

The developed countries have in this respect pledged to mobilize almost $100 billion per year by 2020 - from public and private funds - to help the poorest countries to finance efforts to combat greenhouse gas emissions and the climate change adaptation policy.
