Franco-German Human Rights Prize – Visit to Paris by the prize-winning association “Aguas Bravas Nicaragua” (November 8, 2012)
France and Germany decided in 2012 to honor the Nicaraguan association “Aguas Bravas Nicaragua” by awarding it the Franco-German Human Rights Prize.
The members of this association are remarkable women, who have, since the creation of this NGO in 2007, been fighting against violence to women in Nicaragua and supporting in particular the victims of sexual abuse, notably through the creation of support groups throughout the country.
The recipients of the prize, Nora Rugama, Zoraida Soza and Brigitte Hauschild are currently in Paris. They were received by Najat Vallaud-Belkacem, Minister of Women’s Rights, Government Spokesperson, and will be received at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs by Human Rights Ambassador, François Zimeray. Meetings also took place in the Senate, as well as with numerous civil society actors.
The Franco-German Human Rights Prize, awarded by several of our diplomatic posts, including our embassy in Managua, help to support and promote human rights organizations.
