This text was presented by 90 states from all continents including France and its European partners. It was adopted by a very large majority of 111 member states, a level never achieved before. This confirms the strengthening of international mobilization and the global trend toward the universal abolition of the death penalty.
Laurent Fabius has made the universal abolition of the death penalty a major thrust of France’s diplomatic action. This achievement demonstrates that we must continue our efforts with our partners.
