Meeting between Thierry Repentin and Connie Hedegaard, European Commissioner for Climate Action (January 29, 2014)
Thierry Repentin, Minister Delegate for European Affairs, met with Connie Hedegaard, European Commissioner for Climate Action.
They discussed the EU 2030 Climate and Energy Framework on the basis of proposals submitted by the Commission on January 22, which should provide a very good basis for our work.
France would like the EU to be able to define new climate commitments for itself, in preparation for the UN International Conference on Climate Change (COP21) to be held in Paris in 2015, which should lead to a universal and ambitious agreement on reducing CO2 emissions. President Hollande therefore declared that he was in favor of setting an emissions reduction target of 40% by 2030.
