Signing of a new framework partnership agreement by France and the World Health Organization (Paris, December 2, 2013)

On December 2, Foreign Minister Fabius welcomed Director-General Margaret Chan of the World Health Organization to discuss the principal health issues demanding an international response.

Their meeting was followed by the signing of a new partnership framework agreement by France and the WHO (Mr. Fabius and Marisol Touraine signed on behalf of France). This agreement defines the priorities of our cooperation for 2014-2019: health security, thanks in particular to the International Health Regulations, which constitute a benchmark; the role of health in the post-2015 development agenda; action on risk factors, particularly with respect to chronic diseases and environmental health determinants; and the strengthening of health care systems, with progress toward universal health coverage.
