At the request of the Prime Minister and on the basis of a text proposed by the High Council on Integration, a charter on secularism in the public services has been drafted and must now be distributed widely.
In a circular sent to the members of his government on 13 April, Dominique de Villepin stresses that the Republican principle of secularism must be guaranteed in the public services, and in particular in those that work with the public.
The charter on secularism in the public services reminds officials and users of these services of their rights and duties thereunder.
